Q Every year, members of Congress propose several amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Most of these never get a hearing. Some are proposed repeatedly every session, such as doing away with the Electoral college. Take a look at the latest proposals at the Library of Congress website: www.congress.gov (Links to an external site.). Simply type in the search box “constitutional amendments”. After your research, analyze the following debate questions: What are the reasons why the U.S. Constitution has not been amended often? What are the methods for proposing and ratifying amendments? Were any amendments proposed or cosponsored by your state’s representative? If so, detail which one and your representative’s name. If not, pick one that intrigues you and highlight it here.
